Music City Star Quest
Contestant Rules and FAQ
**SONG LIST** at the bottom of this page for those wishing to sing with soundtracks.
Is there an age limit? Yes. You must be at least 13 to audition. There is no maximum age. Also, if you are under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must be present to sign a waiver.
Does it cost anything to audition?
Does it cost anything to audition?
No it is absolutely free to audition. However, If you are selected to be in the show, a registration fee of $20 will be due immediately.* This includes one free Music City Star Quest Dogtag Necklace, and also helps offset the cost of auditorium rental, sound, lights, trophies and other fees associated with a production of this magnitude.
Do I need to sign up in advance to audition? Yes. To make sure everything moves in an orderly fashion on the night of the audition, everyone needs to register in advance. You can do that by going to the link above.
How much time do I have to audition?
Each person has 60 seconds to audition. All auditions must be done Acapella, without any accompaniment on music or vocals.
When will I know if I made the show?
The line-up for the main show will be announced within 24 hours of the final audition.
How many contestants will be chosen for the show? 20
Will lyrics be available on a screen to read? No. You must have the song memorized. No exceptions.
Can I bring a band if I am selected to be in the show?
No. However, you may use the Music City Star Quest band that's comprised of Nashville musicians. You can also sing with an acoustic guitar if you like, or pick a song from our sound library of pop, rock, R&B, country, or Christian genres *(listed below) and we will provide the accompaniment tracks. No background vocals are allowed unless they are on the accompaniment tracks.

Can I bring someone backstage?
No. Due to security and safety issues, no one is allowed backstage except contestants and staff of Music City Star Quest.
If I win do I get the prize money right away?
Yes! The winner will receive a check for $1,000.00 immediately after the show.
The poster says "Nashville's Biggest Star." Is it only for country singers?
Not at all! Over the past several years Nashville has become a hub for all types of music. It has always been the home of Country music but it may surprise some people to know that two of the biggest Rock groups on the road today, Kings of Leon and Paramore, are both based in Nashville. Other Pop and Jazz artists who call Nashville home are Donna Summer, Michael McDonald, and Larry Carlton, just to name a few. Not to mention, Nashville is the headquarters to virtually every major Christian music Label.
How can my family and friends buy tickets for the show?
Tickets can be purchased as early as 1 month in advance right here at MusicCityStarQuest.com or at the door the night of the show, if seats are still available.
